The Dining Room..The Heart of Tabor Farm

This is the Dining Room and Lobby @ Tabor Farm: The heart of Tabor Farm was the Dining Room. This is where you could get all you wanted to eat...where you could have seconds and thirds...where you could enjoy the Buchunas Appetizer Table as it was called back in those days. This also where visitors could "raid the kitchen" for snacks before going to bed. No one ever went hungry at Tabor Farm.

Remembering all those fun things about Tabor Farms Resort

The placemats for dinner that had a map of the resort on them
The ringing bell for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Those sounds of cabin screen doors slamming as people went in and out of the cottages all day
The ‘weenie’ roasts down by the river
Going to the lodge to get ice since there were no fridges in the cottages
Those awesome cots we had to sleep on as kids
Metal chairs by the pool that got smokin’ hot during the day
The ‘high dive’ at the pool
The TV room at the lodge
The guest talent show
That crazy phone booth in the lodge
No phones or TV in any cottage
The Shelter was one of the largest cottages

I think we need a Flickr page or something like that where everyone can post pictures of the place…

Tabor Farm Resort was such a cool place. We lived in Clarendon Hills Illinois at that time and my Grandmother was the first one who told us about it and got us reservations there. We went 2 or 3 times between 1972 and 1976, me and my brother were probably about 10 or 11 years old. I remember being friends with one of the life guards at the pool there, his name was Terri, totally cool guy. We played many a game of pinball with him in the gameroom part where the jukebox also was. Some of my now favorite songs like Chicago's "Old Day's" and KISS's "Shout It Out Loud" were songs on the jukebox that I heard there for the first time and have stayed with me to this day. The meals there were awesome!!! Plus getting to go raid the kitchen for snacks before bed..... how cool was that!!! I came across a postcard from Tabor Farm on eBay awhile back (that I'd be happy to post on here if they let me) that showed the pool area and some of the main house part and room that the jukebox and pinball were in. I would guess it was probably taken in the mid 1960's. It looked basically like what I remembered it looking like when we were there in the 1970's. I remember running around the the large golf course across the street from the resort. Being little we explored all over the place there and found so many cool beer cans on this wooded area a little ways down from the farm. The one thing I will never forget was finding this little Beagle like puppy chained up to a dog house near that wooded area. We made it our business to go there and sneak some goodies to him everytime we ate. There was a trailer maybe 20 feet from him but there never seemed to be anyone there. That dog was always so happy to see us. We assumed there were people there that owned him and so many times over the years I've always wondered how the little pupster made out after we left. I also remember meeting people almost everytime we went there that I knew from school. Not always at the farm but sometimes while walking around the town shopping. I still have a goodly amount of pictures from our vists there. It was for sure one of the happiest times with some of the best memories of my life. Thank you Tabor Farm for the joyous times and life long memories you've given us. Bob Haraf

Much nostalgia coming back to me of my childhood and Tabor's Farm.
Every year we went for about 10 years and we just couldn"t wait to get there.

I remember "CRAZY GOLF" when me and my sister dressed in my Grandma's corset.

I am so sorry to hear of it going by the wayside.
I would go back.............
